A thorough and up-to-date BTG talent profile is your key to connecting with perfect-fit projects and exciting opportunities. An effective profile provides a snapshot of your professional experience and showcases the skills you bring to projects. A current and complete BTG profile is more than an online resume. It’s the best way to ensure that you are considered for projects that are a good fit for your experience, skills, and availability.
As of February 2022, we have refreshed your BTG Talent Portal experience. If you were already a BTG talent before that time, we have imported your existing data, but now would be a great time to verify and update your information as needed. If you’re just joining us, welcome! We hope these tips help you build a BTG talent profile that best showcases your expertise and helps you find the perfect project.
You can create and update your profile under the “Profile” tab in the BTG Talent Portal.
Things to Focus on When Creating or Updating Your Profile
- Availability: Please update this field (located under your profile summary) to reflect your current availability for BTG projects. Client needs frequently move fast and having an accurate picture of your potential start date can help us match you with projects that might be a good fit for your skills, experience, and availability. If you’re currently working on a project or otherwise unavailable, please select “Unavailable” and enter the date you would like recommendations to resume.
- Headline: Enter a high-level description of who you are and what you do in a few words, as you would on your LinkedIn page. You could include your title, specialty, industry, accomplishments, etc.
- Summary: This is a brief overview of your professional experience. Think of it as your elevator pitch. Write for the client you want and provide critical details about your skills and experience. See our executive summary guide for more ideas.
- Mailing Address: Your mailing address is required for compliance purposes because legal requirements for independent consultants differ by location. This field is on the home page of your profile.
- Education: Please include the name of the school and the degree obtained. Area of study and year obtained are optional.
- Qualifications: Treat this section as your traditional resume. Include past companies, skills, industry experience, roles, and accomplishments. Consider including key achievements and proven results that highlight your skills and capabilities.
- Industries and Skills: Select the top five industries in which you have deep experience and the top five skills you have developed that you would like to leverage on projects.
- Corporate & Consulting: Providing your corporate and consulting experience helps us match you to projects at the right experience level.
- Location: Choose up to two—the first should be your primary location, and the second can be a secondary home or a place where you can work with minimal travel.
- Contractor Status: Most of our consultants work as individuals. However, if you have a small firm who you can leverage for team projects, please let us know under Firm Affiliations in the Work Preferences section of your profile.
- Rate: BTG uses a daily rate model. Please provide an average daily rate for your profile. Keep in mind that rates are assessed on a project-by-project basis, however, and you will have the opportunity to provide a project-specific rate at the time you apply for a particular client need. This field is required in order for you to be considered for projects.
- Demographics: This information is aggregated for BTG internal purposes only. Your answers to these questions will in no way be affiliated with your applications or shared with our clients. It is important to BTG that we represent a diverse and well-rounded pool of talent.
- Professional Certifications: By selecting “Other Data” on the home page of your profile, you can showcase your specific expertise by noting certifications, and open doors to projects in different parts of the world by highlighting languages spoken.
- Keep your information updated! Use the pencil icon within each section to edit your content at any time.
