Apply for projects and help BTG clients tackle their biggest strategic, operational, and technological challenges.
As a member of the Business Talent Group (BTG) community of independent talent, you can apply for current project opportunities with real clients who have been vetted and scoped by our Client Service team.
To apply for a project, you need to answer a few short questions about your relevant experience and qualifications. Once you apply for the project, the Client Service team personally reviews your responses. When they determine that a candidate is a fit for the project, they will reach out to discuss the project further.
We appreciate the time and energy it takes to apply for a project. Unfortunately, with the number of applications we receive, we can’t offer personal feedback to individual applicants.
The tips included in this guide will help you best position yourself for project opportunities with BTG.
Visit the “Projects” tab in the BTG Talent Portal to apply for projects.
Tips for BTG Project Applications
- Review the Project: Read the full project description before applying. Pay attention to requirements such as whether a legal entity is required, the rate considerations, and the project geography.
- Confirm the Requirements: If the project is on-site and the client is not covering travel, be sure you are comfortable covering any travel or relocation expenses yourself. Most projects with BTG clients require contracting through a legal entity. Learn more about legal entities in our Legal Entity Guide.
- Summarize Your Background: Treat the summary portion of the application as an executive summary. A great executive summary should provide an overview of your relevant professional experience and should be limited to 3–4 sentences.
- Provide Relevant Examples: The next part of the application will ask for 3–5 examples of your relevant experience. Be as specific as possible. The examples do not need to be limited to consulting projects as an independent or with a past firm. They can be initiatives you’ve led or supported within a company.
- Create a Project List: Consider creating a document with some pre-written bullets that you can refer back to when you apply for a project. You can and should still tailor the examples for each project.
- Protect Confidential Information: Do not reveal any confidential information about clients or projects in your responses. Sensitive information can be blinded in your examples (e.g. referring to a client as a “Fortune 100 retailer” instead of by name).
- Be Specific: We ask you to complete an application in addition to your profile because it gives you an opportunity to expand on your background and provide additional details that aren’t included in your profile.
- Check Application Status: You can check the status of your applications on the “Projects” tab in the Talent Portal and by clicking “Applications” on the left-hand side of the projects list.
